Question: Living in the western culture we never heard of or knew about the guardian god or ancestor god. So we thought that when we die, everything is over and we feel like something big is missing in life. I thought of death in this way too, and always avoided looking deeply into this topic. As I listened to the Jungbub lectures, I learned that my ancestor gods are always with me. It’s hard to explain but I do feel like there are such beings, however at the same time, I grew up in a Western culture and I am having a hard time accepting this. Seuseungnim, how can I understand and discern these two opposing thoughts.
