The Basics of Faith - Pastor Jason Dahmer - November 3, 2024

We invite you to join us this morning as we continue our sermon series, "Walking in Love: Obeying the Commands of God." Throughout this series, we have been working through the Letters of John. In these letters, John writes to the Church to give them assurance and certainty in their faith. They can have this certainty not because the message they have heard is true and they have been born of God. This change, John insists, will be evident in their lives, since those born of God will turn from sin and walk in obedience to his commands. In this week's sermon, Pastor Jason Clubine will share from 1 John 4:7-21. In these verses, we discover one of God's essential attributes: love. "God is love," John tells us, and because he first loved us by sending his Son, we must love us. But John reminds us that we can love because God "lives" in us. A failure to love, therefore, betrays that we do not know Jesus and do not have him living within us.
