Tommy Bolin - Savannah Woman (1982 reissue)

Tommy Bolin (1951-1976) was an outstanding musician that, sadly, succumbed to his excesses at a very young age. Aside from lending his talents to big names like Billy Cobham, The James Gang and Deep Purple (filling Ritchie Blackmore's shoes), he recorded two great solo albums. "Savannah Woman" is not the kind of stuff that one would expect from a hard rocker like Bolin, but his remarkable versatility allowed him to stretch his scope to diverse musical territories. In my opinion, this is a beautiful piece coming from someone who had heavy sounds as his primary musical language. He plays all guitars and piano in this track, and is the lead singer as well (Phil Collins plays auxiliary percussion, BTW). From "Teaser", the debut solo album by Tommy Bolin, released in 1975. 1982 US reissue.
