SERVICE OUTLINE - GREETING IN GOD'S NAME THE CONFESSION Merciful God, our maker and our judge, we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, and in what we have failed to do: we have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves; we repent, and are sorry for all our sins. Father, forgive us. Strengthen us to love and obey you in newness of life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ has no pleasure in the death of sinners, but would rather they should turn from their wickedness and live. He has given authority to his ministers to declare to his people when they repent the forgiveness of their sins. God pardons and absolves all who truly repent and believe his holy gospel. So we ask him to grant us true repentance and his Holy Spirit, that what we do now may please him and that the rest of our life may be pure and holy, so that at the last we may come to his eternal joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Hymn - Before The Throne Of God Above CCLI Song # 2306412 Charitie Lees Bancroft | Vikki Cook THE MINISTRY OF THE WORD FIRST READING - Ezekiel 37:1-14 PSALM 130:1-7 SECOND READING - Romans 8:6-11 GOSPEL READING - John 11:1-45 SERMON Jesus: the resurrection and the life John 11:1-45 THE NICENE CREED Let us together affirm the faith of the Church: We believe in one God, the Father, the almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE As a family at St Peter’s let us pray to our Heavenly Father who delights in hearing our prayers – He is the mighty one who will save. “The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness.” Zephaniah 3:17 Let us give praise to the Lord Prayer for today Eternal God, from whom all holy desires, all good purposes, and all just works proceed: give to your servants that peace which the world cannot give, that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments, and that free from the fear of our enemies we may pass out time in trust and quietness; through the merits of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen Lighten our darkness Lord, we pray; and in your great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers; for the love of your only Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen Prayer for the Prime Minister in this national crisis Prayer for Tim our Rector Lord please guide and protect Tim as he leads our parish in these challenging times. Amen Accept our prayers through Jesus Christ our Lord who taught us, to pray, Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever.
