US consumers have continued to reel under soaring inflation as Consumer Price Index (CPI) data for August released by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed that prices rose further to 8.3 percent. The August CPI print marks the sixth consecutive month of inflation remaining above 8 percent. Retail inflation has remained stubbornly high in the country despite a series of interest rate hikes by the US Federal Reserve and a fall in global energy prices.
