Countdown to New Year in Madrid

(31 Dec 2021) Crowds gathered in the Spanish capital of Madrid to celebrate the start of 2022 on Friday night. Colourful fireworks littered the sky as usual festivites were held at the Puerta del Sol. Madrid was expected to be one of the few cities in Spain and Europe to celebrate New Year's Eve. Police were set to test new security instruments for the celebrations, using drones with speakers to warn people of the special security measures.
