Behold the magnificance of the landscape around you. Let's attend the Lake Kawaguchi Cherry Blossom Festival. The Fuji Shibazakura Festival is a very popular festival held from mid April to early June that attracts tens of thousands of spectators. People gather to see 800,000 shibazakura, or pink moss, around the Fuji Five Lakes area in Yamanashi. The bright pink petals are usually at their fullest bloom in May, but varies every year depending on the season. The field becomes covered in shades of pink, purple and white, and on a clear day you will even have a great backdrop of the iconic Mt. Fuji. Vendors sell pots of the shibazakura and pink moss as well as food and souvenirs to truly create a festive environment. The Shibazakura festival is considered one of the best times to visit the Yamanashi area, when all the usual tourist spots are enhanced with the colorful pink moss. The Symbol of Japan | Mt. Fuji Mt. Fuji is considered a normal or dormant volcano, with the last eruption occurring around the early 1700's. Thanks to the relative inactivity, Mt. Fuji is a popular spot for tourists both from Japan and internationally alike. During the official climbing season, held between July and August, mountain climbers flock to climb the mountain overnight to see the sunrise. The sunrise from Mt. Fuji is considered one of the best in the world, making this a popular climb among nature enthusiasts. On a clear morning, visitors can see both oceans, the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Japan, from the peak of Mt. Fuji. While many want to climb Mt. Fuji and see the sunrise, it is often believed Mt. Fuji is best enjoyed from a distance. The hot-springs town of Hakone is a popular choice, known for its exceptional views of the surrounding mountains.
