THE EMPTY TOMB/ JESUS APPEARS TO MARY MAGDALENE Refer: Jn 20: 1-2. 11-18( 22nd July 2023) In the Gospel of John (20:11–17), Mary Magdalene arrives at Jesus's empty tomb and asks a nearby gardener where she can find Jesus's body. Calling her by name, the gardener reveals himself as Christ and asks that she report his resurrection to the disciples. When the men in that company abandoned him at the hour of mortal danger, Mary of Magdala was one of the women who stayed with him, even to the Crucifixion. She was present at the tomb, the first person to whom Jesus appeared after his resurrection and the first to preach the “Good News” of that miracle.
