This 15 chapter cliffhanger is the first -- and last -- motion picture serial based on a television program, Captain Video and His Video Rangers. Despite its economies and gimmicky, gadget-filled plot line, it remained faithful to the fanciful, juvenile nature of the television show and was a resounding was a box-office success. So much so that it is one of only two serials that was reissued theatrically three times -- in 1958, 1960, and 1963.
