01 Jennifer Lopez - If You Had My Love (Official Video) 4K60FPS REMASTERED
"If You Had My Love" is a song by American recording artist Jennifer Lopez, featured on her debut album On the 6 (1999). It was composed and produced by Rodney Jerkins, with additional writing by LaShawn Daniels and Cory Rooney. Inspired to start a musical career after playing Selena in her biopic, Lopez recorded a demo in Spanish and began recording her first album after being hired by Work Group, with president Tommy Mottola encouraging her to prioritize English. Initially, the song was included on a CD of instrumental sounds that would be sent to singer Michael Jackson, but he refused to record it, saying that "If You Had My Love" would be better suited to a singer's voice. A different story, however, was published by journalist Damien Shields in 2015, who stated that Lopez had already recorded the song when Jackson heard it. The track was released as Lopez's debut single on May 11, 1999, through Work Group and Columbia Records, being sold on CD single, cassette tape, maxi single and vinyl. Recorded at Sony Music Studios and The Hit Factory, both located in New York, "If You Had My Love" is a song musically derived from the pop and R&B genres, with influences from salsa and hip hop, with its structure consisting of a tempo moderate rate of 94 beats per minute and instrumentation that includes piano, guitar and string instruments. Its lyrics are similar to a conversation and deal with the beginning of a new relationship, with the singer confronting her admirer with a series of rules. Controversy was created over its composition due to the fact that Jerkins had written an "almost identical song" to singer Chanté Moore.
