I’m Leaving the Democratic Party: A Thoughtful Rant
Landslide wins on Tuesday, capitulation by the weekend? I'm furious and I'm ready to walk. It's time to talk honestly about the Democratic Party's failure to fight for progressive values. For 20 years, I've seen the Democratic Party capitulate time after time. I was raised Republican, turned independent, and joined the Democratic party in '06 because of the Iraq War and Obama's organizing efforts. But now, after seeing repeated failures to deliver on progressive priorities—from housing and workers' rights to holding the powerful accountable—I've reached my limit. This isn't just about being "upset"; I'm genuinely done with the current Democratic leadership. The latest deal, supposedly to prevent an aerospace shutdown, exposes the party's true priorities. They didn't care when healthcare subsidies or SNAP benefits for the poor were threatened, but when the private jet class and their wealthy donors were inconvenienced by a potential aerospace shutdown, suddenly a deal is on the table. Chuck Schumer and the centrists are enabling Republican extremism and giving them cover, proving they serve the same corporate masters. Why do Democrats continually put the needs of independents and MAGA voters before their own constituents? We hand them mandates, and they immediately open the door for negotiation instead of turning up the heat. It feels like Lucy and the football every single time—we’re always being asked to jump higher for a carrot we never catch. I'm officially changing my registration to Independent. I'll still vote for Democrats where a fascist alternative exists, but I won't carry water, make excuses, or donate to the DNC. The fight is Up vs. Down: Rich vs. Poor, not just Democrat vs. Republican. We must build an independent coalition and find new ways to demand that our leaders Stand on Business. A quick correction: The name often transcribed incorrectly as "Frederic Poag" is actually Fredo Poag. #DemocraticParty #PoliticalRant #ProgressivePolitics #USPolitics #IndependentVoter #ChuckSchumer #CorporateDemocrats #LeavingTheParty #MiddleEastConflict #GlobalEconomy #InflationCrisis #USGovernmentShutdown #MAGARepublicans #WorkersRights #DonorClass Disclaimer: The views expressed in this video are my own and do not represent the views of any employer, institution, or government agency.
