The Contempt of Courts Act, 1971, further elaborates on the law relating to contempt of court in India. Contempt of court is an offence in India that involves any action or conduct that tends to bring the authority and dignity of the court into disrepute, or that obstructs or interferes with the administration of justice. The Contempt of Courts Act, 1971 defines the two types of contempt of court in India: civil contempt and criminal contempt. Civil contempt is defined as willful disobedience to any judgment, decree, direction, order, writ, or other process of a court, or willful breach of an undertaking given to a court. Criminal contempt, on the other hand, is broadly defined as any act or publication which scandalizes, prejudices or interferes with the due course of a judicial proceeding or tends to lower the authority of any court or scandalizes or prejudices any judge. A person found guilty of contempt of court in India may face various penalties, including imprisonment, fine, or both. The maximum punishment for civil contempt is imprisonment for up to six months, while the maximum punishment for criminal contempt is imprisonment for up to six months or a fine of up to Rs. 2,000, or both. It is important to note that the power to punish for contempt of court is vested solely with the judiciary, and is meant to protect the dignity and authority of the court. Contempt of Court, India, Judiciary, Court Proceedings, Civil Contempt, Criminal Contempt, Legal System, Contempt of Court Act, Judicial Authority, Judicial Proceedings, Punishment, Legal Offence, Vivek Agnihotri, Contempt of Court, Judicial Process, Judge, Legal Proceedings, Civil Contempt, Criminal Contempt, Punishment, Legal Offence, Sentence, Pardon, कोर्ट की अवमानना, न्यायालय, न्याय प्रणाली, न्यायाधीश, न्यायिक प्रक्रिया, नागरिक अवमानना, आपराधिक अवमानना, दण्ड, कानूनी अपराध, विवेक अग्निहोत्री, नागरिक अवमानना, आपराधिक अवमानना, दण्ड, कानूनी अपराध, सजा, #ConstitutionOfIndia #IndianConstitution #FundamentalRights #DirectivePrinciples #Citizenship #Amendment #ArticlesOfTheConstitution #Preamble #Parliament #Judiciary #Executive #Legislature #Federalism #EmergencyProvisions #ConstitutionalAmendment #ConstitutionalLaw #ConstitutionalRights #ConstitutionalReforms #ConstitutionalHistory Keywords :- Contempt Indian Constitution Judiciary Judicial power Punishment Civil Contempt Criminal Contempt Disobedience Interference Defiance Judicial Proceedings High Court Supreme Court Law Commission Freedom of Speech Media Understanding Contempt of Court in India Contempt of Court: An Overview The Law of Contempt of Court in India Contempt of Court: Rights and Remedies Punishment for Contempt of Court: A Critical Analysis The Contempt of Courts Act, 1971: An Insight The Evolution of Contempt of Court in India The Role of Judiciary in Dealing with Contempt of Court Contempt of Court and Freedom of Speech and Expression Defamation and Contempt of Court: A Comparative Study. भारत में Contempt of Court को समझना Contempt of Court: एक अवलोकन भारत में Contempt of Court का कानून Contempt of Court: अधिकार और उपाय Contempt of Court के लिए सजा: एक समीक्षा Contempt of Courts Act, 1971: एक अंतर्दृष्टि Contempt of Court के विकास की एक झलक Contempt of Court से निपटने में न्यायपालिका की भूमिका Contempt of Court और वाक्य स्वतंत्रता और अभिव्यक्ति की स्वतंत्रता नमनश्री और Contempt of Court: एक तुलनात्मक अध्ययन। Welcome to Result Mitra, your ultimate source of motivation and inspiration!
