Smiling Depression short film
Smiling Depression Care For Those Around Smiling depression is appearing happy to others, literally smiling, while internally suffering from depressive symptoms. It is a major depressive disorder with atypical symptoms, and as a result, many don't know they're depressed or don't seek help. Those who do would prefer to keep their struggle private. We normally use the analogy of a mask to describe smiling depression. People suffering from smiling depression may offer no hint of their problem to the outside world. They often maintain a full-time job, run a family household, participate in sports, and have a fairly active social life. With their mask on, everything looks great, even at times perfect. However, underneath the mask, they are suffering from sadness, panic attacks, low self-esteem, insomnia, and, in some cases, suicidal thoughts. Treatments to mental health and depressive disorder have always been available, but nearly two-thirds of the people with a known mental disorder never seek help from health professionals.
