Thailand is stepping up measures to curb the spread of COVID-19. The government will postpone April's Songkran holiday and close schools. The government has also banned large public gatherings and closed entertainment and sporting venues. The number of infections in the country jumped to 177 on March 17. Most of the new cases were diagnosed in Bangkok.
