Gospel Reflection- Wednesday (21 September) – 25th week of Ordinary Time - St Matthew, the Apostle

Fr Paul reads from the Gospel of Matthew (9: 9-13) in which tells the story of Matthew being called by Jesus. After reading the Gospel, Fr Paul shares a little about St Matthew, the Apostle whose feast we celebrate today. Fr Paul says, Matthew was born in Capernaum, and as we hear in today’s Gospel, he was working as a tax-collector when Jesus called him. He is thought by some scholars to have written an early version of his Gospel in Aramaic, a precursor to the Greek version we now have. He is also said to have preached in the East. So, on Matthew’s special day today, Fr Paul invites us to pray ‘St Matthew, Pray for us!’  _____________________________________________________________ Follow us St Agnes' Catholic Parish Website: http://stagnesparish.org.au/ With You for Life Video Channel: http://withyouforlife.org.au/ Facebook:   / stagnesparishpmq   Twitter:   / stagnes_parish   Instagram:   / stagnes_parish
