Resident Evil 2 Extreme Battle Mode LV.3 [TAS] (No Damage & No Weapon)
Please read the description. UPDATE: The missing bomb location has been added! Some parts were also edited. Check the end of the description for more details. This video is a TAS (tool-assisted) of Extreme Battle LV.3 No Weapon & No Damage. It was played on pSX fin emulator and recorded using Fraps. The TAS consists of only save state usage. It's not as professional as other TAS' videos because I don't use slow-motion features (or any of other kind) to get things right down to the frame. The reason for this is simple. My strategies are raw - they can be pulled off by a skilled player whose execution is absolutely flawless and if the game offers a bit of luck in good enemy placement and behavior should the player be forced to go through a more difficult area to get one of the bombs. Because of the method chosen to record this playthrough the BGM sound was disabled and the door animations were skipped in an attempt to create a seamlessly experience. I'd like to thank MartinBiohazard from YouTube (or Dark Biohazard from The Horror is Alive) for creating a patch which allowed me to replace Leon's character model for Hunk's. I opted for a male character model to record this TAS. Female character models have a smaller hitbox which allows to craft better strategies for these characters. This was to allow room for improvement if someone is interested in doing this type of challenge. Furthermore, it also meant that I had to come up with strategies in mind for the most difficult type of character model. Some of the strategies you see in this video won't always work consistently - this is due to RNG (random number generator). Sometimes different types of zombies will pop up in certain areas and will have a different behavior. This means that the strategy I used to get across one place filled with zombies might not be entirely replicated in a subsequent run. Different types of zombies will have different models - the range of their attack might change and the pace at which they travel across a room might be different too. This also applies to other enemies but solid strategies can be created for all locations where there aren't zombies regardless of the RNG. Beyond that I must say that this type of challenge was enlightening to deconstructing and breaking down the core elements of the series gameplay. Resident Evil's appeal, at least to me, lies in two different things: 1. the skill and technique necessary to maneuver the character model across a three-dimensional plane; and 2. the enemy placement and behavior (i.e. patterns) which are essentially one puzzle you need to figure out to get from point a to point b. I don't think this was ever as evident as it was after engaging in this type of challenge because I was forced to do it without receiving damage and using weapons which meant that these two core factors had to be mastered to the best of my abilities. UPDATE DESCRIPTION: Everything up until the point where the missing bomb is obtained has been added, as well as the process of returning to a previous point of original video. Changes were made to following locations: the RPD 2F Helicopter Hallway, the RPD B1 Main Access Hallway, the RPD B1 Garage and the RPD B1 Prison Hallway. This was done to show more challenging possibilities or less time consuming strats of these areas. Because I had to break my rule of save state & load state only during the door loading animations to get the bomb that was missing (a save state & load state was used in the inventory menu to assure that I could escape the cabinet) I also decided to discard the bomb inventory animations present in the original video. I would like to thank Jikka chan for being the person who deciphered the strat to obtain the missing bomb. • バイオ2 EXバトルLv3 北側駐車場 ノーダメージ&武器未使用 If you have any questions, feel free to post them in the comments.
