Well Jihye, China's foreign ministry spokesman Lu Kang said Beijing noted these developments in the Japanese government. He was referring to Tokyo's recent plan to designate North Korea's launched missile falling into Japan's territorial sea as "armed attack emergency" and vow to send Self Defense forces if anything happens on the Korean Peninsula. The spokesman also said he identifies with previous comments made by his South Korean counterpart Cho June-hyuck, who said such moves by Japan would have negative impacts on regional peace and stability. Lu reaffirmed Beijing's firm, clear and consistent opposition to a nuclear-capable North Korea and urged all relevant parties to exercise restraint and work collectively to lower tension in the region, rather than add fuel to the fire. He even cited a phrase used by former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, saying "the only conflict worse than one that is intended is one that is unintended". He also said allies should guard against attempts to achieve ulterior political motives by creating tension and stoking contradiction. Amid this Japanese media are reporting that the defense ministers of Japan and Australia have agreed to carry out a joint military exercise sometime next year. The reported plan came after Tomomi Inada and Marise Payne held talks in Tokyo on Wednesday to discuss the North Korean issue.
