Nassau driver charged in fatal crash
NASSAU - State Police have arraigned a Nassau man after his release from Albany Medical Center. Police say Edward Ferguson, 26, was charged with Aggravated Vehicular Homicide, Manslaughter, Vehicular Manslaughter, Criminally Negligent Homicide, Aggravated Vehicular Assault, Assault, and DWI. Ferguson was behind the wheel after the crash at State Route 20 and Route 66 in the Town of Nassau back on June 27. His passenger, 28 year old Christopher Sharpley of West Sand Lake, NY, was killed in the crash, according to police. Police say his front seat passenger, 27 year old William Shoemaker of Canaan, was injured. The driver of the other vehicle was seriously injured. Edward Ferguson was arraigned in the Town of Nassau Justice Court and sent to the Rensselaer County Jail without bail.
