Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn to meet in leaders debate | Prince Andrew reaction

Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn are set to go head-to-head in the first televised debate of the General Election campaign. The two leaders will face off in an hour-long encounter screened live on ITV on Tuesday evening. The way was cleared for the debate to go ahead after the High Court in London rejected a legal challenge by the Liberal Democrats and the SNP over the exclusion of their leaders. Elsewhere child murderers will face life in prison without parole if the Conservatives are returned to power in the General Election, the party has said in a further toughening of its stance on law and order. Justice Secretary Robert Buckland said a Tory government would legislate to ensure an adult convicted of the premeditated murder of a child is set a whole life order - meaning they will never be eligible for release - unless there are "exceptional" circumstances. And the Duke of York has been dealt a major blow after a sponsor of his flagship business project said it was not renewing support - as calls continued for him to make a statement about Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew is facing the embarrassing prospect of charities and institutions he is associated with distancing themselves, as lawyers for the convicted sex offender's victims urged him to tell US authorities what he knows.
