Elijah had learned the peculiar teachings of W.D. Fard, whom Elijah claimed was Allah come to flesh. Fard, who had been a member of Drew Ali's Moorish Science Temple, mysteriously disappeared in 1934 leaving Elijah to continue his legacy. Under Muhammad, the Nation flourished even admist controversy. Elijah Muhammad wrote a book entitled "The Secrets of Freemasonry" but what relationship did Freemasonry have to his organizational philosophy? And did he initiate the assassination of Malcolm X?
