We CAN ask that: Perinatal Mental Health - English

Having a baby can be life-changing, especially when you are in a new country. Many people may feel overwhelmed, sad, anxious or feel that they are not coping well during the first months after the child is born. For migrant and refugee women, there are additional factors and circumstances that can contribute to feeling like this. Talking about mental health is still a challenge for many new mothers. The stigma and expectations of what a mother is supposed to feel may prevent women from seeking help. In this video, we talk with migrant and refugee women about their experiences of motherhood in Australia and what helped them feel more supported as a new parent. If you are having a difficult time, don’t be afraid to seek help. There are many ways to find support: 🤝 You can try talking with a friend, partner or other family members about how you feel 🤝You can join a mothers' group in your area 🤝You can seek help from a mental health professional 🤝You can get in touch with PANDA (Perinatal Anxiety & Depression Australia) at 1300 726 306 (press "1" for an interpreter).
