Star Trek the Motion Picture: the Rand Cut Part 1 - McCoy comes on board
This is my STTMP hybrid cut of the new DE and SLV intended to re-elevate Janice Rand from a cameo to a full fledged member of the ensemble where she deserves to be. Part 2 • Star Trek the Motion Picture: the Rand Cut... This started out as a lockdown project to create a hybrid version of the two cuts using Adobe Premier Pro but I thought it might be nice to give Janice Rand a cameo in the second half of the movie. When I eventually decided to have a go at re-incorporating the available parts of the Airlock scene and Memory Wall sequence, it became apparent that they would be dull without some dialogue. Inspired by the landing party of Dallas, Cain, and Lambert from Alien, I decided to place Rand inside Spock's original spacesuit to see what I could do. Using a mixture of Realallusion Character Creator and Iclone, Wav2Lip, Deepfake, Spleeter, Deepvoice, Gimp, Adobe After Effects, and snippets of dialogue from Star Trek episodes, movies, and other shows (such as the Outer Limits, the Rifleman, Death Valley Tales, and the Wonderful World of Disney), I have tried to stitch together a coherent narrative using what little footage was available. I hope you enjoy! This entry has added bridge noises to the Sulu/Ilia scene, a line of dialogue for Rand taken from World Enough and Time, a fanfare for McCoy's entrance, and a tiny bit of vocoded dialogue.
