Apostle Grace Lubega Genesis 27:21-23 (KJV); And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near, I pray thee, that I may feel thee, my son, whether thou be my very son Esau or not. And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said, The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau. And he discerned him not, because his hands were hairy, as his brother Esau’s hands: so he blessed him. — One should never underestimate the power of the patriarchal or matriarchal blessing. Our theme scripture is a testament to this power. The Bible tells us that God appeared to Rebekah at the time when her sons were still in her womb and told her, “the older shall serve the younger.” (Genesis 25:23). As such, Jacob, the younger son, had the stamp and approval of heaven as the one entitled to the birthright. This notwithstanding, God needed Isaac’s blessing to establish Jacob’s right and he designed a means, through Rebekah, for Isaac to bless Jacob. This is a message to anyone in a strained relationship with his father or mother. It does not matter how difficult the man or woman is, you need their blessing as a child of God because the Lord respects that order. I know women whose marital destinies are frustrated because they and their fathers or mothers cannot see eye to eye. I know men who can never move far in life and are struggling with frustrated potential because they fought their fathers. Even if you fall out because of reasons that are not your doing, be the one to pursue peace. Reach out if you can but seek reconciliation and the blessing at the hands of your parents.
