Reverse Scooter on Reformer

Reverse Scooter on Reformer

A variation of the traditional scooter exercise on the Pilates reformer, with the strap around the foot. The lateral hip / pelvis muscles on the standing leg (glute medius) are challenged, which is important in runners to maintain pelvic alignment and minimise internal rotation of the femur during the stance phase. The hip extensors (glute max and hamstrings) of the moving leg are also worked in this exercise, not only to pull the bed out against the spring resistance, but eccentrically to control the movement as the hip and knee flex and the carriage returns to the start.
