How to Build a Deck - Part 7: Pouring a Concrete Pad
Full Video: • How to Build a Composite Deck - EVERY... This deck required us to pour a small concrete pad for the new stair landing. To do this we dug out the ground 1 foot larger than we wanted our pad to be. We dug down a few inches. The gravel underneath should be at least 2 inches and the concrete should be at least 4 inches thick. Our concrete ended up being 5 inches tall. Then we made a concrete form with wood scraps both regular lumber and pressure treated. After the form is in, we stamped down gravel. Then we cut our rebar to length. After this we mixed concrete in the wheelbarrow and dumped it into the form. We repeated this process until we reached the height we wanted to be at. we leveled the concrete and then waited about an hour until we textured the top of it. To texture it we used a broom in the middle and an edger on the sides. Below are links to similar products on amazon.
