2025-07-27 - 7:00 pm Celebration of the Holy Mass for the 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Good evening everyone and welcome to the celebration of the Holy Mass on this 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time. The theme for our Sunday readings is that of prayer. We are called to persevere in our prayer and trust that our God will provide. In our reading from Genesis, we have Abraham interceding for the people of Sodom and Gomorrah. Abraham believes in the justice of God and dares to ask him if He would destroy these cities if there are righteous people in their midst. Our Gospel reading definitely invites us to reflect upon prayer. We are given three directives: ask, search (some translations say seek) and knock. Remember that our God loves us when we come to Him with our needs. Never underestimate the power of prayer as we come to Him acknowledging our need for God in our lives. Praise God from whom all blessings flow! The Responsorial Psalm is Psalm 138: "Lord, on the day I called for help, you answered me."
