Daily Bread Devotional: Devotional Topic: Finding Strength in God's Unchanging Character Verse of the Day: Hebrews 13:5 Devotional Message: October 11: Day 284 | 365 BIBLE VERSES – Daily Devotional Today [Our Daily Bread] | MamClaireTV  (Hebrews 13:5) "Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, 'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.' This verse reminds us to prioritize contentment over the love of wealth. Our confidence and security should come from the assurance that God will never abandon us. Hebrews 12:18-24 (NIV) - Approaching God with Reverence In these verses, we see a vivid picture of the awe-inspiring encounter between God and the Israelites at Mount Sinai. The thunder, lightning, and trembling of the mountain emphasized God's holiness and the fear associated with the Old Covenant. However, through Jesus Christ, we now have access to the heavenly Jerusalem, where God's presence is a source of joy and hope. Key Message: In Christ, we approach God with reverence, but also with the assurance of His grace and love. Hebrews 12:25-29 (NIV) - Our Unshakable God The author reminds us that the shaking of the earth at Mount Sinai was symbolic of the temporary and fragile nature of the Old Covenant. In contrast, we are part of an unshakable kingdom through Christ. God's consuming fire purifies and refines us, making us vessels fit for His use. Key Message: Our faith in Christ anchors us to an unshakable kingdom built on God's unchanging character. Hebrews 13:1-3 (NIV) - Practicing Love and Compassion In this passage, believers are encouraged to continue showing love to one another and to extend hospitality. We are also reminded to remember those who are suffering, whether in prison or mistreated, as though we ourselves were in their circumstances. Key Message: Our faith in an unchanging God should manifest in acts of love, kindness, and compassion towards others. Hebrews 13:4-6 (NIV) - Trusting in God's Provision Marriage is honored, and believers are exhorted to maintain faithfulness in this sacred covenant. Contentment is emphasized, for God has promised, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." Therefore, we can confidently say, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid." Key Message: Trust in God's unchanging presence and provision allows us to find contentment and confidence in all circumstances. In summary, these verses from Hebrews 12:18-13:6 remind us of the profound transformation brought about by the New Covenant in Christ. We approach God with reverence and joy, anchored in His unchanging character. Our faith in an unshakable kingdom leads us to love and compassion for others, and it empowers us to find contentment and confidence in God's promises. Let us live out these truths in our daily lives, knowing that our God is steadfast and faithful. Prayer: Heavenly Father, may we live out our faith in practical ways, showing love, hospitality, and compassion to others, just as you have shown us love without measure. Keep our hearts content and free from the love of money, knowing that you will never leave us nor forsake us. Thank you for the unchanging promises in your Word and for the assurance of your presence in our lives. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
