2024-12-29 7:00 pm Celebration of the Holy Mass on the Feast of the Holy Family

Good evening and welcome to the celebration of the Holy Mass on this Sunday, The Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. In our reading from 1 Samuel we hear of the birth of Samuel. We can recall that Hannah prayed fervently for a child and her prayer was finally answered. In our Gospel, we have the account of Mary and Joseph looking for the child Jesus. They found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking questions. Our second reading from 1 John opens with the words: "See what love the Father has given us, that we whould be called children of God; and that is what we are. We are blessed to be a part of the family of God. Today as we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family, let us pray for all families that they witness to the love of Jesus and show caring and compassion to one another. Let us pray for peace for families that are torn apart that they may know peace and love within their families and may those around them may reveal the kindness of God to them. Today's Responsorial Psalm is Psalm 84: "Blessed are they. Blessed are whey who dwell in your house, O Lord".
