4th Sunday of Advent December 22, 2024 AS WE GATHER Are we there yet? As the New Year looms on the horizon! No, not quite, though the new Church Year is now in full swing. Advent! A season marked by the anticipation of our coming King, bringing with it the promises of hope, love and joy. And, this week, peace. Where, in today’s worship, the focus is on that peace, “not as the world gives,” but as Jesus gives, in abundant measure. It is a peace based on His gracious coming to us, peace founded upon the forgiveness of our sins, of salvation in His name. It is of this peace and salvation that Mary sings her song of praise. Centered in the Lord’s gift of mercy, His peace reigns! Therefore, be encouraged. As this year’s Road to the Nativity is almost over, the Lord’s gifts remain. Peace be to you! Peace be to you!
