BAPTISM IN JESUS NAME:IS IT A WORK OF GOD OR A WORK OF MAN? ABTS Special Class with Residential Bible Students -Wednesday, 26 March 2025. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 Rev Dr.P.Mangte Mrs Jenny Mangte +91-8851503372. +91-9599513372 *️⃣*️⃣*️⃣*️⃣*️⃣*️⃣ I.THE BIBLE WAY -BAPTISM IN JESUS NAME -IS IT A WORK OF GOD OR A WORK OF MAN? A.One of the most common objections that I hear regarding the necessity of baptism goes something like this: "Baptism can't be necessary for salvation because that would be an attempt to earn our salvation through works. Apostle Paul said in Eph 2:8-9 that grace is a gift we receive by faith." Baptism is indeed a work, but it's not the kind of work that people often think about. *️⃣Consider what Apostle Paul says about Baptism in his letter to the Colossians?: 👉🏻"And in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ; having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the Working of God,..... " (Col. 2:11 – 12) B.BAPTISM IN JESUS' NAME IS THE " WORKING OF GOD". 👉🏻Indeed,Baptism is "the working of God." 👉🏻Notice what GOD is doing in Baptism: *️⃣1. God is performing a Circumcision. But he clarifies that it's not a physical circumcision "made with hands." It's a Spiritual Circumcision; a "Circumcision of Christ." He elaborates on this further in verse 13: "When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions." 👉🏻Through Baptism IN JESUS NAME alone -GOD is removing the sin that is counted against us (Acts 2:38,22:16). *️⃣2. GOD is raising someone from the dead. But again, this is not a Physical resurrection, but a spiritual one (Col 2:12,3:1).When we are Baptized, we are both buried and raised with Christ through faith. The same power that raised JESUS from the dead is the same power that raises us up from Spiritual death (Eph. 1:19 – 20). II. AN ANALOGY: 👉🏻a) When someone gets a heart transplant, the Patient does not come out and say, "I did such an amazing job giving myself a new heart!". 👉🏻 b).All the Patient did was give their consent to the surgeon and allow the Surgeon Doctor to perform the heart transplant. The Surgeon did the work. 👉🏻c). In like manner, when we are BAPTIZED IN JESUS NAME- all we are doing is putting our faith in God and allowing Him to give us a New Spiritual life (Gal 3:27). 👉🏻d).Even the Physical act of being immersed in water is a passive experience. With that being said, the water itself doesn't contain the power to cleanse us spiritually (1 Pet3:21). Instead, Jesus' blood is how our Sins are washed away, and Baptism is the moment God chose for this cleansing to occur. Grace is a gift of God and Baptism is how we accept that gift "through faith" (Col. 2:12-13). 👉🏻e).Apostle Paul says:"...You who have been Baptized into CHRIST JESUS have been Baptized into His death? Therefore we have been buried with Him through Baptism into death......... ." (Rom 6:3-4.,See Col 2:12). III.WATER BAPTISM IN JESUS' NAME. 👉🏻GOD APPOINTED WATER BAPTISM IN JESUS NAME to Wash away man's sins (Acts 22:16,Mk1:4, Lk 3:3, Lk 24:47, Acts 2:38). 👉🏻When we are Baptized in JESUS NAME (Acts 2:38,4:12)-all of our past sins are removed (Col 2:12-14). 👉🏻Our Sins are not Physically washed away by the water, but Spiritually our Sins are removed by our obedience to the Words of JESUS CHRIST (Mk 16:16, 1 Pet 3:20-21). IV.WHAT ABOUT TRUE WATER BAPTISMAL FORMULA IN THE HOLY SCRIPTURES-Trinity Formula or Jesus Name ? *️⃣The Scriptural Record Every time the Bible records the Name or formula associated with an actual Baptism in the NT Church, it was the name JESUS. ▶️ The Jews. ".... Repent, and be Baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins..... " (Acts 2:38). ▶️The Samaritans-Baptized In JESUS Name (Acts 8:16). ▶️ The Gentiles, - Baptized in JESUS Name (Acts 10:48). ▶️The Disciples of John (rebaptized). "baptized in the name of the LORD JESUS" (Acts 19:5). ▶️The Apostle Paul. "Arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the LORD JESUS "(Acts 22:16). *️⃣Moreover, the Epistles contain a number of references to Baptism in JESUS 'Name. See Rom 6:3-4; I Cor 1:13; 6:11; Gal 3:27; Col 2:12 CONCLUSION: Dear Friends, 🙏Have you been Baptized in the NAME OF JESUS CHRIST for the remission of sins-(Acts 2:38,22:16)? 🙏Have you put CHRIST on as a garment by being baptized into Him(Gal 3:27)? We must let the Bible speak for itself! 👉🏻The NT repeatedly specifies that Baptism in JESUS NAME as a condition to being “Saved” (Mk16:16; Gal 3:27,Acts 2:38). 👉🏻Faith without works and without Baptism cannot save -James 2:19-24!! 👉🏻What hinders you from obeying the LORD today?OBEY ACTS 2:38 today!🙏 Mrs Jenny Mangte
