Second Reading (2 Thessalonians 3:7-12) A reading from the Second Letter of Saint Paul to the Thessalonians. Brothers and sisters: 7 You yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, 8 nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to anyone. 9 Not that we did not have the right to do so, but we wanted to offer ourselves as an example for you to imitate. 10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is not willing to work shall not eat.” 11 We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive, busybodies who do nothing. 12 In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command and urge such people to work quietly and earn their own living. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
