RBI keeps policy rate unchanged for 11th time in row at 6.5%
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has maintained its key lending rate at 6.5% for the 11th consecutive time, signaling stability in loan interest rates. However, the RBI reduced the Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) by 50 basis points to 4%, which is expected to inject approximately ₹1.6 lakh crore into the banking system, boosting liquidity and supporting the economy. This move is seen as a balancing act between managing inflation and stimulating demand. Additionally, the RBI has revised its GDP growth forecast for the current fiscal year to 6.6%, down from 7.2%, reflecting a more cautious economic outlook.
