Little Star. Once upon a time, in a small village at the edge of a forest, there lived a cheerful little girl. She always wore a bright red cloak with a hood, which her grandmother had lovingly sewn for her. Because of this, everyone called her Little Red Riding Hood. One sunny morning, her mother called her and said, “Little Red Riding Hood, your grandmother isn’t feeling well. Take this basket of goodies to her house, but remember: stay on the path and don’t talk to strangers!” Little Red Riding Hood agreed and happily set off with her basket. She skipped through the forest, humming a tune, when suddenly, a big, bad wolf appeared from behind a tree. “Good morning, Little Red Riding Hood,” said the wolf, trying to sound friendly. “Where are you off to on such a lovely day?” Little Red Riding Hood stopped and replied, “I’m going to my grandmother’s house. She’s not feeling well, so I’m bringing her some treats.” The wolf’s eyes gleamed with a sly idea. “What a kind girl you are!” he said. “Where does your grandmother live?” “In the little cottage at the end of the forest,” Little Red Riding Hood answered. The wolf smiled, showing his sharp teeth. “Oh, I hope she feels better soon,” he said. Then, with a quick goodbye, he dashed off into the woods. Little Red Riding Hood didn’t suspect anything. She wandered along the path, stopping to pick flowers for her grandmother. But while she was picking flowers, the clever wolf ran straight to the grandmother’s cottage. He knocked on the door. Knock, knock! “Who is it?” called the grandmother from inside. “It’s me, Little Red Riding Hood,” the wolf said, pretending to be the girl. “Come in, my dear,” said the grandmother. The wolf pushed open the door, leaped inside, and—gulp!—swallowed the grandmother whole! Then, he put on her nightgown and cap, and climbed into bed, pulling the covers up to his chin. Soon after, Little Red Riding Hood arrived at the cottage, carrying her basket of goodies and a bouquet of flowers. She knocked on the door. Knock, knock! “Who is it?” called the wolf, disguising his voice. “It’s me, Little Red Riding Hood!” “Come in, my dear,” said the wolf. Little Red Riding Hood entered the cottage and saw her grandmother lying in bed. But something seemed... strange. “Oh, Grandmother,” she said, “what big ears you have!” “All the better to hear you with, my dear,” said the wolf. “And Grandmother, what big eyes you have!” “All the better to see you with, my dear.” “But Grandmother,” she said, stepping closer, “what big teeth you have!” “All the better to EAT YOU WITH!” roared the wolf, jumping out of bed! Little Red Riding Hood screamed and tried to run, but just then, a woodcutter passing by the cottage heard her cries. He burst through the door with his axe and saw the wolf. The woodcutter chased the wolf and scared him away deep into the forest. The wolf ran so fast, he never came back again. Then, the woodcutter helped Little Red Riding Hood open the wolf’s belly. Out jumped her grandmother, safe and sound! “Oh, thank you!” cried Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother. From that day on, Little Red Riding Hood promised to always listen to her mother and never talk to strangers again. And she always stayed on the path when walking through the forest. They all lived happily ever after.
