
Bhoti Language Celebration at EJM College Leh
EJM College, Leh, Celebrates Bhoti Language Day with Enthusiasm and Cultural Splendor Leh, 1st April 2025 – EJM College, Leh, today hosted a grand celebration of Bhoti Language Day, honoring the rich linguistic and cultural heritage of Ladakh. The event was graced by esteemed chief guests, Deputy CEC Tsering Angchuk, Madam Bano, and EC Chosphel, along with scholars, faculty, and students. The program commenced with a lighting ceremony, symbolizing wisdom and the preservation of Bhoti language, followed by a melodious welcome song by Nurboo Zangpo. The President of EJM College delivered a warm welcome speech, emphasizing the significance of the Bhoti language in preserving Ladakh’s identity. To deepen understanding, CIBS teacher Tsewang Yangjor presented an insightful introduction to Bhoti, highlighting its historical and cultural relevance. The celebrations continued with graceful dance performances by Shamma girls, showcasing Ladakh’s rich traditions. A speech by Stanzin Chosgyal shed light on the importance of Bhoti Language Day, emphasizing the struggles and dedication of the Students’ Council in organizing this remarkable event. One of the key attractions was a quiz competition featuring teams from EJM College, GDC Khaltse, and GDC Nubra, engaging participants in a lively test of knowledge. The event also featured a Ldumra dance performance, adding to the cultural vibrancy of the day. An engaging discussion among Bhoti language experts, including Ven. Tashi Dorjey from EJM, provided valuable insights into the language’s future and preservation. Following this, a certificate and prize distribution ceremony honored the participants of various competitions. LAHDC translator Tashi Namgyal then delivered a speech, reinforcing the significance of Bhoti in administrative and cultural contexts. The celebration continued with a dance performance by students from Changthang region, reflecting the diversity of Bhoti-speaking communities. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by LBA Youth Wing President, Jigmet Rabstan, appreciating the efforts of organizers, participants, and guests. The event reaffirmed the collective commitment to preserving and promoting the Bhoti language, inspiring students and scholars to continue their efforts in safeguarding this invaluable heritage.
