A purpose and a dream led our guest to what is now the Burel phenomenon! Isabel was the engineer who, bucking the trend of exodus from the interior to the coast, created the project to reinvent Burel, to help heal the social fabric of Manteigas from the dramatic fragments that tore it apart! She traded the city for the Serra da Estrela mountains, but would have preferred Gerês! A place in the interior of our country that deserves to be visited! She always had the project of starting a second life, closer to nature, and receiving friends there. Besides Burel, Isabel and João (her husband) have a magical mountain – Casa das Penhas Douradas, a four-star hotel that the couple restored 130 years after its creation. BUT WHAT EXACTLY IS BUREL? It's a traditional fabric, 100% sheep's wool, which, in addition to being easy to maintain, provides excellent acoustic and thermal insulation.
