Cyberpunk 2077 - Unarmed Combat Direct Comparison

Cyberpunk 2077 - Unarmed Combat Direct Comparison

I'd give Mirror's Edge a 10/10 and Cyberpunk a 4/10 in unarmed combat. Well this is just the prologue, thus we might unlock cool moves later in Cyberpunk Check out the link to source footage and my thoughts & opinion in the description. I'd give Mirror's Edge Catalyst a 10/10 in unarmed combat because of its fast paced, simple yet satisfying moves. For me, a FPP game becomes immersive only when it fully realizes its Player Character, Mirror's Edge does that perfectly. Even though Witcher 2's combat system was memorable, it is worth noting that combat system is not CDPR's strong suit. They excel at story telling. I'd give the unarmed combat system of Cyberpunk 2077 a 4/10, in the most simplest sense it seems like CDPR haven't improved at all from the Witcher 3's fist fighting mechanics. It feels too simple, uninteresting and boring just like it was in the witcher games, where the fight ultimately comes down to waiting and counter attacking, in a gameplay sense, that's repeating two input keys in the same intervals and occasionally dodging a strong attack. I've never been a fan of the traditional FPS aesthetic of always having the weapon in view, in this case, its the hands. It feels extremely unrealistic that a person would hold his gun up the entire time in a weird manner. Well in this case it is forgivable, as most martial arts encourage to keep the arms up in a guard position to minimize the traversal time while blocking incoming attacks. But having the arms relaxed feels way more cooler. CDPR knows this, because they showed the exact same thing on their "The Gig" trailer at 0:39 where some basketball thugs approach V, where V hits them from a relaxed arm position, which looks way cooler and badass. And yet it seems they fell into the "traditional FPS" aesthetic of having boring things on screen. What do I exactly want to see? I'd have loved it if we could use our legs to kick enemies and even deflect incoming attacks, after all, leg is the longest limb of a human body and is also the limb with the most muscle power. Which led to the founding of an entire martial arts discipline. Fast and continuous chain of attacks, a combination of punches, kicks, grabs and throws. As perfectly displayed in Mirror's Edge. Almost in a fighting game fashion where we control every move and land perfect combos. While having the minimalist and simplest input keys like in Mirror's Edge and Sekiro. Show the Player Character's actual body rather than just hands. Frequently showing torso, legs and generally the entire body during drop kicks, back kicks, knock backs and many more moves. Mirror's Edge Catalyst does this beautifully, thus greatly increasing the player's immersion levels in a FPP game. Slight camera tilts during various animation in the right way would also increase immersion. Well all of these opinions arise due to CDPR's statement of making this game the "most immersive game". If the game doesn't have the above mentioned features, I don't see how this would become the most immersive game. I ain't hatin, just sharing my casual thoughts. Well, who reads this shit anyway....
