10/19/2025 morning worship service Pastor Anthony Fields " "Encouragement for Us to Get Along" Have you ever had one of those moments when you realized you were on the wrong track, and it was going to be a tough time getting things straight? Philippians 2:1-5 ¹ Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, ² fulfill my joy by being like- minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. ³ Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. ⁴ Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. ⁵ Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,...... I. Eliminate selfishness "Do nothing out of rivalry or conceit,.... but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves." (2:3 II. Be subiect to Christ There is more to getting along with one another than simply putting aside selfishness. We must all put aside our personal desires and personal standards and reach for a higher mark. When we have "fellowship with" or are "united with" Christ (2:1) ...we find that higher standard. Ill. Serve others Instead of selfish ambition there is humility (2:3). Instead of vain conceit, there is service to others (2:3-4). It all leads to unity in the entire church, for Christians who forsake selfishness. submit to the authority of Christ, and serve one another will be quickly "focusing on one goal." (2:2) Serving others, it is a way to bring a taste of heaven to earth." _____________________ "You have been gracious to your land, O Lord : preserve us from self–destruction. Psalm 85:7 - 11 Show us your mercy, O Lord :and grant us your salvation. I will listen to what the Lord God is saying for he is speaking peace to his faithful -people and to those who turn their hearts to him. Truly, his salvation is very near to those who fear him :that his glory may dwell in our land. Mercy and truth have met together : righteousness and peace have kissed each other, Truth shall spring up from the earth : and righteousness shall look down from heaven.
