(Español abajo) Krewe de Mayahuel presents Día de Muertos Saturday November 2nd, 2024 Beanlandia/Mickey Markey Park 3300 Royal St. 3pm - Pre Procession Community Gathering 7pm- Procession Begins Join Krewe de Mayahuel in our traditional Day of the Dead procession to remember and celebrate our loved ones who have passed. Prior to procession, we will have a pre-procession happy hour with Mexican art and crafts vendors, artisan makeup artists, and food for community members to gather as a community. Procession route will be posted once approved by NOPD. At arrival to the cemetery doors we will have a short solemn moment where we will encourage community members to place their ofrendas on the altar. Following will be a short cultural program by Krewe of Mayahuel and other Culture Bearers. This is a festive yet solemn event, we encourage you to have a good time in a respectful way. Day of the Dead is a celebration that has many forms in different parts of the world and everyone is welcome. Remember to bring a candle. There will be an altar in front of the cemetery where you can put a small offering or a picture of a loved one (if the item is valuable to you please don’t forget to take it with you when you leave). Nos reuniremos antes de la procesíon en el parque Mickey Markey para una reunion de comunidad con vendedores de artesanías mexicanas, artista de maquillaje, y comida. La ruta de la procesión sera agregada cuando este aprovada por la policia. A llegar al panteón habrá un momento de solemnidad y un programa cultural. Today the Krewe de Mayahuel the first ever Krewe of Mexican Mardi Gras, has a fair and procession for Day of the Dead today Saturday, November 2nd starting at 3pm at Markey Mark Park and in front of the St Roch Pantheon in New Orleans! Admission is totally free, and there's music and dancing, but there are family-friendly activities for sale (food, crafts, face painting, bar).
