7 August 2022 | 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time | Mons David Tonks
Today is the 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time. We are led in praying the Mass by the parish community of St Joseph’s Takapuna. At times is can seem we live in a world surrounded by fear. Pandemic, war, street violence, cost of living concerns etc. We could respond by hunkering down and being self-protective. Making sure I and my loved ones are OK, controlling what I can of the situation to protect myself from danger. Despite our best efforts we are never in complete control of the situation. Unexpected things do happen, and life has uncertainties. We are pilgrims on our journey with God. If life Abraham and Sarah, we are able to put our faith in God we will find comfort in the words of the Gospel “there is no need to be afraid.” God’s got this. If we really believe this then we will be open to being generous with what we have, not focused on our own security but on the well being of all. We will hold our ‘stuff’ lightly. We are led in praying Mass by Mons David Tonks. Permission to podcast / stream the music in this service obtained from ONE LICENSE with license M-400197 Bishop Steve Lowe - Limited Podcast License.
