[§85] Wasting of the Earth Without the Sealing Power

This podcast describes in detail the prophecy in Malachi 4:5-6, where he predicted that the earth would be utterly wasted if Elijah the prophet failed to appear before the great and dreadful day of the Lord. This prophecy was fulfilled, not during Elijah's visit on the mount of transfiguration in the meridian of time, but on April 3, 1836, when Elijah appeared at the Kirtland Temple to bestow the sealing power on Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery. Since that time, the exalting ordinances of the gospel have been performed in increasing numbers as a preparation for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
