War-separated families spend private time together on second day of reunions

이산가족 2차 상봉단 방북 이틀째... 지금까지와 앞으로의 일정은 Our top story this afternoon... The second day of the second round of reunions for families separated since the Korean War is taking place as we speak,... with the participants spending time with their beloved relatives in a more private setting. Let's turn to our Kan Hyeong-woo, who's covering the story for us from the city of Sokcho, near the inter-Korean border. Hyeong-woo, what's the plan for today and going forward? Well Mark, as you said, it's the second day of the three-day-long family reunions… and the timetable is pretty much the same as the first round of reunions which took place earlier this week. After spending time together at the welcoming banquet on their first night in the North, the participants have five hours to be with their families on Saturday. For the 326 South Korean relatives of the 81 North Korean participants, the individual meeting session in their private rooms at the Mount Kumgang resort began about two hours ago and ended just a few moments ago. By now, they are expected to be having lunch for one hour in the same setting just by themselves. As this three-hour-long private reunion time is an opportunity for the families to be alone, these meetings give them more freedom to talk to each other without the prying eyes of North Korean officials. After lunch, the families will have another joint group session from 3 to 5 PM, Korea time and that will be the last session for Saturday. As for Sunday's schedule, they will have their goodbye session for three hours in the morning and the buses are scheduled to leave Mount Kumgang at 1:45 PM... in what's sure to be another emotional scene. Many were worried about Typhoon Soulik possibly affecting the reunions,.. but the weather appears to be fine at Mount Kumgang.
