At the start of the game's events, Chris Redfield, Piers Nivens, and other fighters from B.S.A.A. arrive in Edonia to counter an attack by the bioterrorist organization Neo-Umbrella. In the course of tragic events, Chris and Pierce learn that a woman is at the head of the bioterrorists, whom they identify as Ada Wong. In reality, this is Carla Radames, who Derek Simons turned into a doppelgänger of Ada. Six months later, Chris and Pierce discover Carla in China and pursue her, trying to arrest her, and also try to prevent a global biological attack organized by Carla, but do not succeed in this - before their eyes, Carla is killed by members of the "Family", and the population of the city of Tat-tzu (China , Langshian Province) is infected with a virus that turns people into zombies. Then Chris and Pierce go to the secret underwater base of Neo-Umbrella to save Jake Muller, who has antibodies to a new infection. However, at the secret base, they discover not only captives, but also a huge cocoon with an underdeveloped giant bio-organic weapon "Chaos". The systems of the underwater complex are programmed to unleash Chaos in the event of the death of the head of the organization, Carla Radames. A fully developed Chaos would be able to infect the entire population of the earth with the K-virus in a matter of days. Chris and Pierce are forced to stay at the base to destroy Chaos. During the battle, Piers Nivens loses his arm and Chris Redfield is captured by Chaos. Pierce decides to inject himself with a boosted K-virus captured from Carla Radames in order to have a chance to save Chris Redfield and defeat Chaos.
