Resident Evil 2 received acclaim for its presentation, gameplay and faithfulness to the original. It won the Golden Joystick Award for Game of the Year and was nominated for the Game Award for Game of the Year. By September 2024, it had sold 14.5 million units,[1] outselling the original Resident Evil 2 and becoming the best-selling Resident Evil game.
