Herpes vs. Acne

Another frequently asked question that makes for a great reminder! I come across this topic when seeing patients with painful pus-filled bumps on or around the lips. But there are some basic differences. Derms have other tools to get the right diagnosis if it’s really difficult to tell clinically. If there is any concern for herpes, I definitely recommend seeing a dermatologist because the treatment can definitely decrease the duration and symptoms of a herpes breakout.
