In this lecture, we discuss use of 3% saline (hypertonic) and get comfortable with how much change in sodium can it result in. once you have understood some of these basic principles, you will likely start using it more. We also discuss causes of rapid correction. We will learn that this is almost never from hypertonic saline but physiological changes or patient factors that are occurring, which you can start looking out for rather than blame it on 3% saline.
