Opening Prayer. Bay Shore Church Worship Service January 28, 2024
This Sunday, January 28 in Worship “Learning to Listen to God’s Voice” 1 Samuel 3:1-11 This Sunday we embark on a journey discovery as we delve into the story of young Samuel, who, like many of us, had to learn how to recognize God's voice. In 1 Samuel 3:1-10, we witness the importance of guidance and mentorship, just as Samuel needed Eli's wisdom to discern the divine call. Learning to listen to God's voice is a continuous process, and we often seek guidance from the wisdom of those around us. Join us for this sermon as we explore practical strategies to become more attuned to the divine presence in our lives, and how we can sharpen our ability to recognize God's voice speaking through our innermost thoughts and the world around us. Let us open our hearts to the rich tapestry of divine guidance that surrounds us. Our Bay Shore Bells will be playing two handbell pieces this Sunday, both incorporating our Schulmerich handbells and hand chimes. The first piece, A Blessing will be played as part of the prelude. Written by Michael Herman and dedicated to his grandsons Lucas and Benjamin, It is a peaceful and meditative song with a flowing and memorable melody. The Chancel Choir and handbell choir will be combining forces during the anthem on the Schutte/Sherman arrangement of Here I Am, Lord which echoes this Sunday’s scripture of Samuel hearing the call of God in the night and responding, “Here I am, for you called for me.” And our Alto Section Leader/Soloist Jenny Paz will be singing the song You Will Be Found. from Dear Evan Hansen, the lyrics reminding us that none of us are ever alone. Join us this Sunday to be spiritually fed through word and song. We will also be commissioning and blessing our 2024 officers and lay leaders during this service.
