Today's Gospel Sunday, January 28, 2024 🙏🏻 ✝️ Feeding of the Five Thousand Mark 6:30-44 Then the apostles gathered around Jesus and told him everything they had done and what they had taught. 31 He said to them, "Come away by yourselves to a solitary place and rest a while." For so many were coming and going that they did not even have time to eat. 32 So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place. 33 But many saw them going and recognized him. Many went there on foot from the cities and arrived before them and gathered around him. 34 Then Jesus went out and saw a large crowd, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. And he began to teach them many things. 35 When it was already late, his disciples came to him and said, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. 36 Send them away, so that they can go into the surrounding countryside and villages and buy bread, for they have nothing to eat.” 37 He answered and said to them, “You give them something to eat.” They said to him, “Shall we go and buy bread for two hundred denarii and give them something to eat?” 38 He said to them, “How many loaves do you have? Go and see.” When they learned it, they said, “Five loaves and two fish.” 39 And he directed them to make them all sit down in groups on the green grass. 40 So they sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties. 41 Then he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed and broke the loaves and gave them to his disciples to set before them. And he divided the two fish among them all. 42 And they all ate and were satisfied. 43 And they gathered up twelve basketfuls of the wreckage, and some of the fish that was left over. 44 And those who ate were five thousand men.
