My other channel; / @kmj2.015 INFO: Michael Jackson performing ‘Billie Jean’ in Auckland, New Zealand at the Mount Smart Stadium (back then it was called the Ericsson Stadium) on November 11th, 1996 as the second of two shows in Auckland. The 1st night being on November 9th, and these shows are the first shows of the oceania leg from the HIStory World Tour. THOUGHTS: A lot of this performance is fantastic, but some of it is also meh, because he’s kinda ‘loose’ at times, tho I have the same criticism for the Sydney performance (Nov. 16th). Michael seems energetic, and he’s clearly grooving as he’s seen doing some wild and spontaneous movement like at 2:16 or 5:14 where he does an extended version of the move from the ‘Ghosts’ music video. The breakdown is also very long and has the iconic bgs start playing to tell Mike to hurry up and finish the song. Also I LOVE the James Brown movement at 4:26. Vocals here are okay, vocal condition is better than Nov. 9th, but that show has ‘hee hee’s which are rare for the tour, so I value them a whole lot. But overall this performance is more enjoyable to me because 1. the drums sound strong unlike at the first show, 2. the breakdown 3. unique movement 4. Michael’s attitude and energy.
