Pastor David's Sermon, "Speak Up and Speak Out," January 28, 2024

Rev. David Cushman is interim pastor of the Baptist Church in the Great Valley, Devon, PA. Visit us at bcgv.org. The opening verses of Isaiah, chapter 49, are known as "The Servant's Calling." In verse four, the prophet expresses frustration with the results of his efforts on God’s behalf: "I have labored in vain; I have spent my strength for nothing and vanity." Indeed, our individual lives are short, and we can only reinvent ourselves a few times. God calls his servants to speak up for community-building truth. God calls us to speak out against injustice anywhere it occurs. And God calls his people to share the Good News of salvation.
