SAnKTUM - Psalm 34: Taste and See (Agatep)

SAnKTUM - Psalm 34: Taste and See (Agatep)

The readings for Year C of the Fourth Sunday of Lent (Laetare Sunday) presents to us a literal "feast": the Israelites' feasting on the produce of the land of Canaan, the land promised by God to them, the feast of celebration the Father gave the prodigal son upon his return home, and Jesus, whom Paul points out as being "feasted on" by sin so that we could feast with Him in heaven through His reconciling death and resurrection. No wonder then that we are presented with Psalm 34, with the response "Taste and see the goodness of the Lord", which serves as a constant invitation to enter into the banquet of love which the Lord prepares for us - but only if we so desire, like the prodigal son, to be willing to make the journey home and to abandon the "pig pods" of the world to which we have been accustomed. Indeed, God's rich fare is far more wonderful and far more satisfying than anything else in the world because He provides His very self, which we receive as Bread and Wine in the Holy Eucharist. Let us feast with joy in the reconciliation won for us by Jesus! SAnKTUM sings Norman Agatep's setting of Psalm 34, from Bukas Palad's Tinapay ng Buhay: Volume One album, with our soprano, Shanne, as cantor. #SAnKTUM2025 #SAnKTUMat24 #SAnKTUMSings #BestLent
